South by Southwest 2017 may seem like a long way away (March 10th-19th, 2017), but the conference is already releasing event information. Professor Jennifer Doudna and tv/film director Jill Soloway have both been named as 2017 Keynote Speakers.

Jennifer Doudna (Interactive) is a professor at the University of California, Berkeley. She is a geneticist and pioneer co-inventor of CRISPRCas9 — a groundbreaking new technology for editing genes.

Jill Soloway (Film) is the creator of Transparent, which has won two Golden Globes and five Emmys, including one for her directing. Jill’s first feature, Afternoon Delight, won the 2013 Directing Award at Sundance.

Registration for SXSW started Monday, August 1st, so now is the time to start looking for badges if you’re planning on attending this year.
