On Saturday, Nov. 5, Great Promise for American Indians is inviting the public to celebrate Native American Heritage Month at the 25th Annual Austin Powwow and American Indian Festival, 9 a.m.-10 p.m.

For those interested in American Indian cuisine, there will be a wide range of authentic foods at the food court–make sure to get their most popular food:  frybread. They will also have over 100 booths of authentic arts and crafts at their American Indian market. A heritage stage will showcase American Indian culture through a variety of performances such as drumming, dancing, singing, storytelling and more. Finally, there will be a traditional dance contest with $25,000 worth of cash prizes.

This year’s festival will be held at the Travis County Expo Center in east Austin. Admission for the festival is $5 for adults and free for children under 12 years old. For more information, please visit austinpowwow.net.
